Extended Swingarm
One day I decided that I wanted the swingarm of my 1990 FXR extended 2″. I sketched out the design and proceeded to machine the extensions out of a solid piece of steel. A co-worker of mine at Illinois Harley-Davidson, Jim Egizio, has been helping me become a better machinist. He has helped me plan my machining projects and taught me that being a good machinist takes time and lot of hours behind the machines.
The axle that I made is one of Jim’s own ideas. I really liked his idea so I made this out of stainless steel for my bike. It’s a two piece axle held together by a large allen bolt. When you look at it, it almost looks hollow at first, then upon closer inspection you can see the way it really works. I am very fortunate to have Jim as a mentor in my machining projects.
