Axelson Lathe

Here are two pictures of an Axelson lathe with a 40″ swing. Axelson lathes were made in Los Angeles, California in the 1940s and were famous for making hubs and shafts for the war effort. Gerard from Condor machine has a deep admiration for these beautiful lathes and currently owns three of them.

I recently had the opportunity to do some metal work on this Axelson lathe. As you can see from the photos, the metal work I did on this lathe is not the same as I normally perform. With a little help from a torch, an anvil and a very large hammer I got the metal to go the way I wanted it to go. After Gerard painted the machine, it looks great and is ready for service once again.
